plimmerton kung-fu and tai chi club

Shaolin Fut Gar Gung-Fu Master Wing Koi Young

While this website profiles my kung-fu and tai chi masters, I'd like to also pay tribute to the late Master Bill Young, pictured below. Master Bill Young and Master Wing Koi Young (Peter Young), were good friends and belonged to the same club, the Wellington Chinese Martial Arts Assn. Along with Bill, Peter played a key role in what is purported to have been New Zealand's first Chinese martial arts club; in fact the first lesson started at the side of Peter's fruit shop in Moxham Ave Hataitai, PC Young Fruiterers. I have it on good authority that Bill always deferred to Peter as he was older, and called him Dai Sifu, which basically translates as Grand Master. A histroy of Master Wing Koi Young titled 'Profile of a Master' will be published on this site in due course. Special thanks to Stan Chun (also pictured below) for providing many of the photos of the old Chinese Martial Arts Assn and Master Wing Koi Young.
